Jacksonville Gemological Laboratory (JGL) has been serving Jacksonville for over 25 years. We are located at 2925 Corinthian Avenue in Jacksonville, FL. Using state-of-the-art equipment and technology we provide professional and accurate appraisals, evaluations, and identifications of diamonds, and colored stones.

JGL is experienced in producing appraisals as per GIA grading guidelines for determining market or insurance replacement value. Our experts will advise you as to which type of appraisal you may need depending on the intended purpose of the appraisal. We will answer any questions you may have about the appraisal process or the finished results of the appraisal, while maintaining complete confidentiality.

Jax Gem Lab has three functions;

• First, the appraiser is an identifier. Your jewelry must be identified as to the materials, workmanship, condition and any other elements affecting its value.
  

• Second, the appraiser is a valuer. A value must be assigned to the jewelry that is appropriate to the intended use of the appraisal. It is then evaluated and ranked in quality in relation to all other similar property.
  

• Third, the appraiser is a witness to the property. The appraiser can attest in a court of law that the jewelry existed at a certain point in time, that it was in a certain condition, and that it was valued according to accepted valuation practice. (That is why it is necessary for your appraiser to examine your jewelry when you have the appraisal updated.)
  

Kim Scott is a professional appraiser of gems and jewelry. Her qualifications include the following:
